ABM College’s Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program prepares you for an in-demand career where you will improve the quality of life for individuals who require continuous care. The ongoing need for qualified PSWs in Ontario makes this a career choice with longevity and immediate job opportunities. This in-class, 28-week program includes 2 practicums for a combined 12 weeks of hands-on training in long-term care homes and community-based homes. These practicums allow you to apply your new skills in field-related work environments, giving you the real-world experience to pursue your career with confidence. Personal Support Worker Program Highlights

  • Gain a strong knowledge of working with persons who require assistance with routine activities.
  • Learn to assist with nutrition, hydration, medications and personal hygiene.
  • Study safety and mobility issues to identify potential safety risks, prevent infection and safely use equipment for transfers and lifts.
  • Learn to observe clients for any behavioural, physical or cognitive changes and report your observations to a supervisor.
  • Learn to provide much-needed respite and companionship to client families.
